On the occasion of 71st anniversary of independence of India our Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi addressed some grave issues concerning our country. In his speech he mentioned the issues from Kashmir problem to the death of 63 children in Gorakhpur. He being the executive head of the state and abided by the constitution of India kept his secular views on the issues at the Red Fort, Delhi. Our country having a mixture of different cultures, races and religions roars proudly while saying “ANEKTA ME EKTA” but the acts of cow vigilante’s, the preachers of nationalism relieving themselves not at public toilets but at the roadsides, the politicians swimming in the scam money from foot to neck and the acts of greatly socially enlightened people who pay a keen attention on the school students who do not sing the National Anthem even while standing in attention position proves otherwise. They are in true sense the nationalist’s a country like India wants. Though the framers of the Constitution of India had a completely different notion about the word nationalism and secularism but those were different days. Today our country needs change not in terms of attitude of society towards the protection of female or her education etc because these are petty issues. What majorly concerns our true nationalists is the fact that a group of Muslims did not say Vande Matram giving the most acceptable argument for their concerns that ‘if you live in India you have to say Vande Matram’ or ‘Islam itna bada hai ki Vande Matram kehne se use koi nuksan nahi hoga’. What is wrong when these nationalists say that the girls are being raped because of the short dresses they wear? What is wrong when they say that soldiers on the borders are born to die? What is wrong when they beat a person to death when they assume he is taking a cow to slaughter house? Why don’t we encourage such people and support them in there great cause i.e. to spread fear in the name of culture, tradition and nationalism? The unfortunate fact is we do support them in their crimes by silently accepting their actions. We do encourage them by just watching these acts on our T.V. sets and complaining about everything. The word intolerance often used on social media or in public debates actually means ‘ although I don’t know what to say about it and I still have to give my opinion on this matter to show how concerned I am about it I will use a high class word to confuse them.’ This independence day my only request is: it took our forefathers more than a century to gain independence and India is still settling herself even after 70 years of freedom so let’s not fall short in our efforts for a bright future of India and our future generations by motivating the goons and the antisocial elements of our country who take laws in their hands and call themselves the nationalist.
